School / Group Guitar Lessons
I will travel to you, 1 Hour each
week for 6, 8 or 12 weeks. The number of weeks is decided by
your group. Ages 6 and up.
I will supply all lesson materials
and a 3 ring binder to all students (the lesson pages will be
3 hole punched). A clip on digital guitar tuner will be provided
to all students. I am not able to supply loaner guitars that
are taken home by the student. An alternative is found further
below.
Students should be at or near
the same level. I prefer beginner to intermediate beginner but
can teach all levels. Depending on the number of classes, students
can learn:
- The parts of the guitar
- How to hold it for playing
- Left hand and right hand playing
positions.
- The music alphabet
- How to use the digital tuner
- Beginner guitar chords - example
found
here
- Beginner song melodies such
as the Star Spangled Banner, Happy Birthday, etc.
- Easy to play beginner songs
I have arranged using single notes, first chords and parts
of first chords. Real songs like Row Row Row Your Boat type.
- Basic finger picking
- The note names on the fret
board - open strings to fret 3, then to fret 5.
- How to tune a guitar without
a tuner
- Sheet music notation. EGBDF
and FACE using half and or whole notes in 4/4
- Guitar tablature notation
- Introduction to Music Theory
- Intervals .
- The C Major scale.
- The 3 notes in the C Major
and C minor chords using the intervals
- 6 strings, but 3 notes in Major
and minor chords
- and more
Each
student should have a guitar for class and to practice at home.
If there is not a guitar available for practice during class
or at home please consider getting a practice "neck finger
trainer", pictured at the left. It has 6 strings and 6
frets, which is perfect. You can find them online or I can order
the number needed. They are affordable and worth it. I have
one and have used it when I travel (when I remember to pack
it). I practice songs and it keeps my fingers in shape. In addition
I have learned and practiced new scales on it. It is a very
handy too that students may find useful.
I may be able to bring a full
size guitar to your location. The guitar could be passed around
to each student during the lesson, and then use the "neck
finger trainer" at home.
I am no longer able to provide
loaner guitars. I have given them all away to deserving students.
Home School Pricing
is based on the number of students. The fee is per lesson.
The lesson
fee is split between the number of students. For example:
Guitar lessons for a class of 6 students is only $20 per student
per lesson. See below.
- Guitar lessons
for 1 are $60 if I travel to you or $50 at my studio or by
ZOOM
- Guitar lessons for 2 are $80
at your location or $60 at my studio or by ZOOM
- Guitar lessons for a group
of 3 to 12 are $120 - Home School class space is required
at your location. Not available at my studio.
- Full tuition is
due the week before the first lesson. I accept Cash, Check,
Venmo or Zelle.
- There are no refunds
if a student misses a lesson. There is a free lesson/ extension
of classes if I am not able to make it to a lesson. Or we
can try to reschedule for another day the same week.
I try to be flexible, so let me
know the days and times that work best for your group to start
either 6, 8 or 12 weekly guitar lessons. The number of weeks
is up to your group. 6 weeks is a good starting point to see
how students like the guitar lessons. Some students will want
to continue, some may decide it is not for them. Students will
receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the classes.
Again, students should be at the
same level and will learn to play guitar in a classroom environment
at your location. I can teach by ZOOM but prefer in person.
I can provide lessons for other students at a different playing
level the same day or on another day.
I have been playing guitar for
more than 50 years and teaching guitar more than 12 years. References
on request or see the Comments.
