School / Group Guitar Lessons
I will travel to you, 1 Hour each
week for lessons 1 week to 4 weeks, but 6 weeks is also available.
The number of weeks is decided by your group. Ages
6 and up.
I will supply all lesson materials
and a 3 ring binder to all students (the lesson pages will be
3 hole punched). A clip on digital guitar tuner will be provided
to all students. I am not able to supply loaner guitars that
are taken home by the student. An alternative is found further
below.
Students should be at or near
the same level. I prefer beginner to intermediate beginner but
can teach all levels. Depending on the number of classes, students
can learn:
- The parts of the guitar
- How to hold it for playing
- Left hand and right hand playing
positions.
- The music alphabet
- How to use the digital tuner
- Beginner guitar chords and
how to read a Chord Chart - example found
here
- Beginner song melodies such
as Happy Birthday, Jingle Bells, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
and others the students are familiar with.
- Easy to play beginner songs
I have arranged using single notes, first chords and parts
of first chords. Real songs such as a simple arrangement of
For Elise on guitar.
- An introduction
to Basic Finger Picking
- The note names on the fret
board - the 6 open strings to fret 3, then to fret 5.
- How to tune a guitar without
a tuner. Find out what happened when Eddie ate dynamite to
help remember the note names of the 6 "open" guitar
strings
- Guitar tablature - How to
read it and how to create your own.
- The C Major scale.
- Introduction to Music Theory
- Intervals - Key of C
- The 3 notes in the C Major
and C minor chords using the Intervals
- 6 strings, but 3 notes in Major
and minor chords explained
- and more
Each
student should have a guitar for class and to practice at home.
If there is not a guitar available for practice during class
or at home please consider getting a practice "neck finger
trainer", pictured at the left. It has 6 strings and 6
frets, which is perfect. You can find them online or I can order
the number needed. They are affordable and worth it. I have
one and have used it when I travel (when I remember to pack
it). I practice songs and it keeps my fingers in shape. In addition
I have learned and practiced new scales on it. It is a very
handy too that students may find useful.
I may be able to bring a full
size guitar to your location. The guitar could be passed around
to each student during the lesson, and then use the "neck
finger trainer" at home.
I am no longer able to provide
loaner guitars. I have given them all away to deserving students.
How much? Home School
Pricing is based on the number of students. The fee
is for an hour lesson. The
lesson fee is split between the number of students.
For example: Guitar lessons for a class of 6 students at your
location or by ZOOM is only $14 per student per hour lesson.
Lesson materials are brought
with me to the scheduled lesson. See
below.
- Guitar lessons
for 1 are $60 if I travel to you or $50 at my studio or by
ZOOM
- Guitar lessons for 2 are $70
at your location or $60 at my studio or by ZOOM
- Guitar lessons for a group
of 3 to 6 are $27 to $14 per student - Home School class space
is required at your location. Not available at my studio.
- ZOOM Guitar Lessons for a group
of 3 to 6 are $27 to $14. Lesson materials are sent by email.
- I Prefer a maximum of 6 students.
However I can teach up to 20. Inquire for details.
- Full tuition is
due the week before the first lesson. I accept Cash, Check,
Venmo or Zelle.
I try to be flexible, so let me
know the days and times that work best for your group to start
anywhere from 1 week to 6 weekly guitar lessons. The number
of weeks is up to your group. 3 weeks is a good starting point
to see how students like the guitar lessons. The breakdown for
a 3 week hourly lesson plan is (rounded up)
per student:
- 3 students $27 per lesson =
$81 each for 3 weeks of Lessons
- 4 students $20 per lesson =
$60 each for 3 weeks of Lessons
- 5 students $16 per lesson =
$48 each for 3 weeks of Lessons
- 6 students $14 per lesson =
$42 each for 3 weeks of Lessons
To determine the
cost for more than 3 weeks simply multiply the number of weeks
times the per lesson per number of students for the total of
all lessons, per student. Example: 5 students for 5 weeks =
5 weeks x $16 weekly cost for 5 students = $80 per student for
a 5 week class.
This is a very inexpensive
way to see if they are serious about learning how to play the
guitar. My individual lesson fee is $50 an hour.
I have been playing guitar for
more than 50 years and teaching guitar more than 13 years. References
on request or see the Comments.
