Guitar Scale are (start on 6th string 5th fret) A B C# E F# A.

It is the most common scale
used when you want to get an "easy listening", or country kind of feel.
The Major Pentatonic is very common in Blues as well. The fingering
is very similar to a Minor
Pentatonic Scale, try both and you will see what I mean.

Try playing the A Major
Pentatonic Guitar Scale over an A Major chord for a country feel and sound.
An easy way to get used to
the feel and sounds is to play it like this. Strum an A chord a few
times to let your ear adjust to the "key". Then play:

A on the 6th string at
the 5th fret, then
-
B C# on the 5th string starting
at 2nd fret, then 4th fret
-
E F# on 4th string, starting
at 2nd fret, then the 4th fret, and keep it going with
-
A B on 3rd string, starting
at 2nd fret, then the 4th fret
-
C# E on 2nd string, starting
at 2nd fret, then the 5th fret
-
F# 1st string 2nd fret and finish
on the A note 1st string 5th fret. There are many of
other fingerings for a Major Pentatonic Scale, for now get used to the
sound and this fingering. Then jam on!

Try to remember: 5, 2 4, 2 4,
2 4, 2 5, 2 5

Speaking of letting your "ear"
adjust. Always trust your ear. If something does not sound
right, it probably isn't, but when learning something new, try it a few
times before you decide it is not right.
